Rules of Entry to Ukraine

For unvaccinated citizens, different entry requirements apply to Ukraine. The current rules for crossing the border of Ukraine are governed by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1236 with the latest amendments of December 29, 2021. Foreign arrivals over the age of 18 who have not received a WHO-approved vaccine must install the Vdoma mobile app, which monitors self-isolation, regardless of the length of stay on the territory of Ukraine. Self-isolation may end prematurely if these arrivals receive a negative PCR or rapid antigen test result within 72 hours of entry. Otherwise, the required self-isolation period is 10 days. During the quarantine period, it is forbidden to cross checkpoints to enter the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, leaving foreigners and stateless persons without an existing insurance policy (certificate) issued by an insurance company registered in Ukraine. or a foreign insurance company that has a representative office on the territory of Ukraine or contractual relations with a partner insurance company on the territory of Ukraine (support) and covers the costs associated with the treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 and is valid for the duration of the stay in Ukraine. A negative test result and insurance policy are required. Upon entry, install and activate the “At Home” app and commit to self-isolation 72 hours after entry. During this time, you have the option of undergoing a PCR test or taking a rapid antigen test – if you get a negative result, self-isolation is eliminated. If you have not received a negative result within 72 hours of crossing the border, you must self-isolate for 10 days at the location indicated in the Vdoma application when you were approved.

You can end self-isolation prematurely by getting a negative PCR test result or rapid antigen test. Self-exclusion does not apply if a PCR test or rapid antigen test is performed within 72 hours of entry and a negative result is obtained! All visitors must also register online within 72 hours of entry (and carry the paper or electronic document generated) and have health insurance covering COVID-19 treatment. It is necessary to have an insurance policy to enter the country. Pre-entry testing, installation of the “Vdoma” app, self-isolation or additional testing are not required. The final decision on the admissibility of a person to enter Ukraine rests with the State Border Service of Ukraine. Only Ukrainians with residence permits, their family members and students are allowed to enter Slovakia. Ukrainians with residence permits in other EU countries are allowed to travel to Slovakia.
