Rutgers Business Minor Requirements

The RBS undergraduate program has created seven learning objectives that shape the program according to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation standards. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the world`s longest-standing accrediting body for business schools offering bachelor`s, master`s and doctoral degrees in economics and accounting. AACSB accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business education and has been achieved by less than five percent of global business programs. Gain an understanding of theories, principles and practices in the fundamentals of economics (accounting, finance, management, marketing, supply chain management). With the exception of Introduction to Finance, all of the above courses are taken alongside the RBS majors. Although the minor is limited to 18 credit hours, we also add the following suggested courses to complete the experience (again, these courses are not mandatory): Rutgers students from other schools, departments, and majors can expand their education and enhance their careers by earning a minor in Business Administration at Rutgers Business School. The minor benefits each major by providing students with the skills and knowledge to compete globally while broadening their appreciation of how the world works. Students must apply for and be admitted to the minor in Business Administration in order to be recognized as enrolled. Given the limited number of spaces available, admission of eligible students is on a first-come, first-served basis. Three courses (9 credits) must be completed in a minor to support work in the major. The minor must be approved by the faculty in the main field, but usually consists of courses outside the department where the major is located.

The exceptions are finance and information technology. Finance majors are often minors in Applied Economics, which is also housed in the Department of Finance and Economics. Note that business administration and entrepreneurship students are not allowed to be minors. The undergraduate program at Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick offers a minor in Business Administration to provide students with a solid foundation in the broad functional areas of business. The 18-credit minor consists of 6 introductory courses of three credits covering each of the disciplinary areas of the Rutgers Business School.

This combination provides a comprehensive and well-founded overview of the essential aspects of business administration.
